Subject: [ap-english] Re: essay topics for Romeo and Juliet

Betsy,

Why did Romeo and Juliet die?
 - Was it fate? were the deaths foretold in the stars?
-Was it chance? Fortune is fickle...
 - Was it adolescent passion?...
 - Was it the Montague/Capulet feud?
 - Was it other causes?

Discuss the imagery of opposition in R&J:
 - light and dark
 - fate and free will
 - love and hate ("Here's much to do with...)
 - death and life

Friar Lawrence writes his memoirs: It's ten years now since the death of Romeo and Juliet. What does the Friar think, looking back over this distance of time...

More ideas in the Cambridge Schools edition of the play...
